Grease Trap Cleaning for Busy Kitchens Across Northeast Ohio

Keeping Your Kitchen's Drains Clear

Every meal that comes off your line sends some fat, oil and grease toward the drain. Your grease trap catches it, but only up to a point. Once it's full, grease slips through to the sewer and backups start showing up in the kitchen.

Cowboy Miller Septic Pumping cleans grease traps for commercial kitchens from our base in Deerfield. We cover businesses throughout Stark, Columbiana, Mahoning, Carroll, Portage and Summit counties, with free estimates and emergency service when a trap can't wait.

Kitchens we work with include:

  • Restaurants and cafeterias
  • Hotels
  • Schools and hospitals
  • Food processing facilities

We look over the baffles, inlet and outlet for damage or blockages and tell you what we find.

04

Haul & Dispose

The waste leaves your property on our truck and goes to an approved disposal facility.

Indoor Grease Traps vs. Outdoor Grease Interceptors

Indoor grease traps usually sit under a sink or in the floor near the dish area. They're small, so they fill quickly and often need service every few weeks.

Outdoor grease interceptors are buried tanks that can hold hundreds or even thousands of gallons. They take longer to fill, and many run on a quarterly schedule, though high-volume kitchens may need visits more often.

Let us know which one your kitchen has when you call, and we'll plan the visit around it.

Grease Trap Questions From Kitchen Managers

  • Do I have to close my kitchen during grease trap cleaning?

Usually not. Outdoor interceptors are pumped from outside the building, so your line can keep running. For indoor traps, you'll need to hold off on the connected sinks while we work.

  • Can kitchen staff clean a grease trap themselves?

Staff can sometimes skim a small indoor trap between professional visits, but the waste still has to go to an approved disposal facility, and local rules may require a licensed hauler to take it. Outdoor interceptors need a pump truck.

Signs Your Kitchen Is Due for Grease Trap Cleaning

Some signs are easy to miss during a busy shift:

  • Floor drains that gurgle or hold water after mopping
  • Flies or other pests gathering around the trap lid
  • A notice from your sewer district or a health inspector
  • More than a few months since the last cleaning on record
